What are the advantages for me as a data holder of sharing my data?

“Data

Most organizations have limited data analysis capacities.

There may be several data scientists or statisticians or none at all, and data may be available in dashboards or regular reports, or have never been explored. The capacities of academic researchers to find insights in data and engage the newest methods in the discovery far exceed what most businesses and organizations can or want to do with their data.

Many organizations also recognize the value that the data they hold could have to the public at large and the kinds of questions and challenges that data can help answer.

Our goal at SEAL is to reduce the barriers to sharing and provide the security that allows access with confidence.  We work with data holders that have never done anything like this before and those that handle thousands of requests a year, developing agreements that meet their unique needs and desires.  This might be a partnership with a single researcher or more broadly available (but still fully secure) data sharing.  It might involve detailed individual vetting by the data holder, or setting up the conditions and leaving it to SEAL to ensure they are honoured.
